1. Installation

Installation is a simple process, just run the downloaded installation file (WyrmOXOSetup.msi).
All this does is put the WyrmOXO application into the Program Files folder and creates a shortcut to it under 'Wyrm Software' in your Programs menu.

2. Setup

There is nothing to setup. Once you've installed WyrmOXO you can run it.

2.1. Playing a Game

When you run WyrmOXO it is ready to play. You may be told that it's your move first, but other than that you will see something similar to the following window.

The Basic Board

To make your move you can either click in the square you want to move to, or press a number key (e.g. on the numeric keypad). The computer will make its move after a short delay.

The First Move

When someone wins, the winning line flashes. If there is a draw, the whole board flashes. You then click the New Game button to play again.

2.2. Start a New Game

Just click the New Game button at any time. Unless you change the option, the computer will move first on the next game, and then it will be back to you to move first on the game after that.

2.3. Set Options

Clicking the Options button will display the following window.

The Options Window

The first option you can set is whether you want to be Os or Xs. Just select the appropriate radio button.
The second option sets whether the first move of each game alternates between you and the computer or not. Leave the box ticked if you want to alternate the first move.
If the alternate move box is un-ticked then the option box that allows you to choose who actually goes first is enabled. If ticked then you will always have the first move.
The next option is the computer thinking time. This isn't actually anything to do with the computer thinking, just an arbitrary comfort factor. The time is in milliseconds. If you want the computer to respond faster then reduce the time.
Finally the last option, if ticked, causes the application to start in the position it was last closed in. If not ticked then it will appear in whatever position Windows decides.
Finally, click the OK button to accept the options or click Cancel to close the window without saving the options.

2.4. The Help Window

Clicking the Help button displays the following window.

The Help Window

This is a simple window that gives some basic information and a link to this site. If you lose the help window behind other windows, then clicking the Help button will make it visible again.

3. Troubleshooting

Can I change colours?
Unfortunately not yet. If there is sufficient demand then I'll add it.

4. Known Bugs/Features/Limitations

It doesn't seem to be learning!
It does take a while to learn, after all there are many possibilities to work through, just be patient.
